TRANSCRIPT:  Video 1

Yesterday, I cooked a large pie, that had this instruction writ large: Not suitable for freezing.

I took it out of the freezer, rock hard, cooked it, served it, and the whole house was violently sick.

Mankind was created with a certain instruction on the tin: This creation malfunctions when unplugged.

So, avoiding the inconvenience of being plugged in to God, genius mankind manages to impress himself while self-destructing, through disregarding God’s operating instructions for mankind..

Unfortunately, it’s a vicious circle. Once damaged, mankind is now unsuited for being plugged in, and since mankind was created in the image of the all powerful God, mankind is not only benignly malfunctioning, he is dangerously malfunctioning, and every minute of delay in destroying malfunctioning man is like playing russian roulette with the universe.  So, why are the unplugged still here? Why are they not wiped off the face of the earth before they blow everybody and everything up with their rebellious ways? Because God has a plan, and it’s good news.

People who humble and receive the gift of reconnection without recrimination (no payment, so receiving requires humility: remember the truth and reconciliation commission?) are regenerated as a new species, who are alive, and are capable of spiritually multiplying.

  • The message is about the gift.

In cities around the world, we are training students to multiply in schools, workers to multiply in the workplace, and family members to multiply in natural or extended families.

Here are the principles of multiplication.

  1. You must be alive in order to multiply.  There is no such requirement in a religious exercise, therefore multiplication must not be confused as a kind of religious activity.  Eternal life is defined as the experiential or relational knowledge of God - in other words, the ability to plug in to God.  Before attempting to train someone to multiply, we must check to make sure they have been born again, and that they have the eternal life of God in them.
  2. They must engage in the normal activities of a healthy living person - eating, sleeping, washing, etc - especially since multiplication is by message, the message that eternal life is available, but that message is only believable when eternal life is truly evident in us. So, the capabilities of the life of Christ are, in a manner of speaking provided to us in locked cupboards, and the commands of Christ are keys to unlocking those cupboards. Actually unlocking those cupboards (as opposed to simply understanding that this is possible), leads to demonstration (a kind of proof) that what is being promised, however, incredible, is actually true and real.  Multiplication requires an the extension of living relationship into loving obedience to the commands of Christ.
  3. Multiplication requires declaration of the true Good News, as opposed to fake news.  Messages about a different god with a different nature and character, a different kind of love, more convenient alternative promises, different unlock keys, (low) costly payment plan (as opposed to free) alternatives that maintain a modicum of pride - being non workable and non refundable - these messages are actually harmful rather than helpful to multiplication. God (and no man, religious deity, or idea) is the author of salvation that renews and replugs, is the author of love that bankrupted heaven to engineer this replug, when we respond to his love with our love, stuff happens swiftly (repentance, baptism, Holy Spirit infilling, love for God’s word, love for prayer and worship, love for the people that God loves [everyone, especially members of the family of God], and passion for the family business which is facilitating multiplication.
  4. Disciples must learn through a process of modelling, assisting, watching and launching to disciple those who come to faith through their witness.  If they don’t, multiplication will not actually happen.  In short, they must practice teaching what they have just been taught.

The videos provided deliver these 4 trainings in different ways, to suit different contexts, and mission leaders are invited to utilize videos that are most suited to their context.  The videos contain pauses which make them unsuitable for recreational listening. Instead they are designed to be prompts for use in live presentation, until the trainer is confident to deliver the content without prompts. Note the term mission leader. Mission is the context within which multiplication takes place (not church), and mission leaders must secure a release from church responsibilities, such that, should the requirements of multiplication demand an increase in hours dedicated to multiplication, they will not be hampered in so doing by church commitments. It is recommended that, in urban areas, persons be released to be mission leaders for a period of no less than two years.  The mission leader must be able to prioritize the needs of the mission above those of church or club, during his assignment, and his assignment period should, in turn, be monitored by his church/bible club leaders, making it a genuine partnership.

Different arrangements must be worked out with clubs/churches for how new believers flow into local church.  Our recommendation is that the practice of sending new believers direct to church for follow up should be replaced by a concept of missions which includes follow up, where believers who are grounded in Christ and practised in multiplication are passed on from multiplication discipleship follow-up ministry, to the churches and clubs to which the Spirit assigns them..

The Bible talks about grace and peace being multiplied, and about the church (numbers of disciples) being multiplied

So,

  • Character gets multiplied, and so do gifts.
  • Testimony is important, sparking faith.  and
  • The discipler is often challenged to continue to practice the grace they once expressed.
  • Multiplication of good practice does not happen without delegation
